His eyes lit up at that as his gaze travelled across my
chest and wandered down to the most private of places. I was clothed and
covered in the right places, but in front of him, I felt completely naked. The
feeling was unnerving and delicious all at once, which only confused me
further.
So he’s sexy as hell. It
doesn’t matter. He’s the enemy.
‘It doesn’t matter anyway,’ I added hastily. ‘I’ve got a
nasty case of the clap. Better not rape me or your pico might fall off.’ I
thrust my chin out as I used the Spanish term for ‘small dick’, smirking at the
Gypsy Brother as his warm hands continued to roam every bit of bare flesh on my
arms.
Dornan laughed at my admission, a throaty noise full of
gravel and insolence that made me increasingly unsteady on my feet.
‘I’m not going to rape you,’ he replied, amusement dancing

REVIEW
Two things made me feel different about this book: First, this is my debut reading Lili's books. I didn't know her work and was a pleasant surprise since...
Second, recently I saw all Sons of Anarchy's seasons. This means that just now I got into the MC's universe.
What I learned after 7 seasons of films and this book here? There aren't good guys and bad guys. There are people showing all its facets, whether good or bad. And that's exactly what happens in CARTEL.
Dornan is not all bad, but can not be considered a good guy. He does what he was raised to do. Being the son of a Mafia kingpin, Emilio Ross, who prefers to be called as Master, he knew that one day he would have to follow his father's steps.
Kill, traffic, bribe, are just some of the verbs that he grew up to be the right thing to do.
When he gets Mariana, through his father, being the payment of a debt an employee, Dornan doesn't see anything wrong in that. From that moment Mariana was no longer a person, she was a possession, and as such he could do whatever he wanted with her.
Of course, in the case of a novel, even though dark, there are a love story involved, and Dornan feels obsessed with Mariana, and she ends up falling in love with him.
The book is part of a trilogy that precedes a series already launched, Gypsy Brothers MC.
I have not read this series and I don't know which course the whole story will take (it was good, since Cartel is a prequel, I can start from the beginning).
The important thing here is how it all will end. Still not the end but the beginning, and the couple, who so often shows unbalanced, will keep together. For now.
It remains to know if they are perfect for each other, to be a Stockholm Syndrome, or because both are alike in their dark sides. Mariana is not the saint as she would like to show...
